Leonard Chiang,D.D.S.

Biography
Dr. Leonard Chiang is an Arizona native coming from a family of M.D.'s including his father, uncle, and sister. He graduated here from Brophy with honors and entered the Able and Ambitious Program at Arizona State University during his 2nd year of high school while excelling in college courses. At that time, he performed community service work and obtained his Eagle Scout Award. He was awarded a chemistry and WICHE scholarship and graduated with a bachelor of science in 3 1/2 years from Cornell University, an Ivy League institution, and was initiated member and chair of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. He honorably served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Accepted to a large number of dental schools based on credentials without examination/test scores, he went to Loyola University of Chicago while awarded a scholarship from there and entered with the top 90th percentile entrance exams and then later obtained the same with the initial National Board Exams. He ranked at the top quarter of his class. He took a year off after closure of the school to study at the University of Illinois College of Medicine as a grant with exam for the second MS2 year, and then transferred and obtained his D.D.S. degree at Marquette University. He has been in practice since 1997. He continues his education and training beyond state licensing requirements to improve and refine his skills to optimize odds for the most favorable results. He is Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified through the American Heart Association as well as Lumineer and Invisalign certified. Awards include the Consumer Research Council's America's Top Dentists from 2003-2004 and 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013; United Concordia's Outstanding Service Certificate from 1999, 2011 Top Dentist in Gilbert, AZ by the International Association of Dentists, and 2011, 2012, and 2013 Celebration Media U.S.(CMUS) Talk of the Town Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction, 2012 Best of Gilbert Award for Doctors and Clinics, and Who's Who Among Business Professionals; Past memberships include the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, and Central Arizona Dental Society, the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network, as well as the International Association for Orthodontics. Dr. Chiang is an avid, enriched gas certified scuba diver as well as snow skier, and piano player.
Staff
Erickson Canoy, a native Arizonan, is an experienced dental assistant and laboratory technician and has worked at Gilbert Dental Care for over ten years. He is x-ray and coronal polish certified and has a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Biology. He repairs cars and computers in his spare time, volunteers at his church and sings in its choir. Besides being knowledgeable in all aspects of dentistry, his expertise is in orthodontics and laboratory work. Rebecca Meehlieb is from Mesa and graduated from Pima Medical Institute. She has externed at A.T. Still University School of Dentistry with half her time spent in its orthodontic department; further, she is familiar with most aspects of dental assisting. She spends her time cooking as well as with friends and family. She also volunteers her time through the American Lung Association such as its Fight for Air Walk. Christa Lim is a repeat honors student at Mesquite High and works part time in the front and back office. She is fluent in sign language, and her hobbies include violin and cello, dance, and martial arts. Catherine Young, office manager and treatment coordinator, is originally from the West Valley and is expert in billing, insurance coding, and claims processing. She is a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers and American Business Women's Association. Her hobbies includes photography, computers, and taking care of her children. She also works with her mother in childcare services and development.
Charity
Dr. Leonard Chiang has donated via the Red Cross to the Haiti earthquake, Szechuan China earthquake, and U.S. Katrina disaster, as well as United Nations recognized Tzu-chi Relief Foundation, the Arizona Dental Foundation, and World Vision child welfare organizations. He has donated funds, masks, and eye shields to SARS epidemic areas. Dr. Chiang's family such as his father has provided volunteer emergency medical and surgical services in earthquakes and other disasters and has taught voluntarily at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. In 2010, his parents donated $10,000 each to Mayo Clinic as well as to Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School where his sister (Cornell cum laude grad '03) interns and fellowships. In 2010, his family, namely his maternal grandparents, Colonel (ret.) and Mrs.Tu, donated $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic Foundation. Dr. Chiang's other past volunteering and donations include the Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) Dental Clinic, United Blood Services, Positive Impact-Arizona, St. Vincent de Paul, Arizona Kidney Foundation, Salvation Army, Arizona State Hospital, People to People, Fraternal Order of Police, Ronan Thompson Foundation for childhood cancer, Boy Scouts of America, and Goodwill. He also has lectured at Arizona State University regarding dentistry.
